Pine Wood Derby

Ladies & Gentlemen...Start Your Engines! On January 31st, the Royal Rangers will be hosting a fun event for the entire family. Sign up for the pine wood derby, place your order for an official kit ($4 per kit), and turn in the money by this Wednesday, November 19th. This will give everyone time to prepare their cars for the Pine Wood Derby held here on January 31st. Again, boys, girls, dads, moms, grandpas and grandmas are encouraged to participate. Sign up @ the Welcome Center and turn in money to Commander Peck or Pastor Sharon.

Pie & Bake Sale:

Plan now to make pies and baked items for the Women’s Ministry Pie & Bake Sale @ the First National Bank of Groton on Wednesday, November 26th. Sign up at the Welcome Center to make or order pies and/or breads. Contact Mary Briglio @ 756.8434 for details.

NEW! 5 week Sunday School Class:

Introduction to a Christian Worldview: What is a Christian to think?
11/23-1/4 - In this 5 week class, we will take an introductory look at a Christian worldview on five stewardship topics: environment, fellow man, talents, institutions, and finances. Grounded in the truth of Scripture, this class will help students to critically examine current topics from a Biblical perspective.

Combined Service November 30th @ 9:30-Weekend after Thanksgiving

We Still Need Nursery Workers:

Contact Kerri @ 423.5689 to volunteer in the nursery. Thanks.

Trash Request:

In the past, we’ve asked that trash be left by the kitchen exit because we were locking the dumpster. We are no longer locking the dumpster, so if you choose to empty the garbage, please make sure that trash is taken directly to the dumpster (put in a new bag too). Trash left by the kitchen exit is confused for recycling. Thanks - Chuck

How Can I Help?

Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming, and winter is on the heels of those holidays. We encourage you to look for practical ways to “adopt” families in need. Grocery, fuel, and large discount retailer (like Wal-Mart) gift cards are unrestricted yet effective ways to help, or you could deliver groceries, toiletry items or even gifts. If you’re not sure what to do, feel free to see one of the pastoral staff for ways to help. As always, we encourage you to live within your means (budget) and give generously to the cause of Christ. If you’re currently struggling financially, consider taking advantage of programs like HEAP to help with electricity and heat, Child/Family Health Plus to help with medical insurance, & WIC for help with food and other needs for children and mothers. These programs are available for those that meet income guidelines.

Nominations for the Church Board:

The first part of Acts chapter 6 tells us about the first “church board”. Chosen by the Church “members”, this team’s purpose was to distribute food fairly among Greek & Jewish widows. This team of leaders worked to handle affairs, such as the one above, so that the apostles could continue to focus on preaching and teaching. Similarly, the Church Board, though required by the state of New York for incorporation, works in conjunction with the pastoral staff to serve church members, count the weekly offering, maintain the church building and budget, and help with or speak into other matters that come up in the church or community. See 1&2 Timothy and Titus for other qualifications for church leaders. Using the guidelines, please prayerfully and carefully take the time to make nominations of men or women from the membership roster in the foyer to serve on the Church Board. It is both a great responsibility and privilege to serve.

Annual Business Meeting Reports:

Each year, we try to concisely present the year’s activities to the membership. Each coordinator is asked to write a summary for the year. Please submit those summaries to Pastor Joe electronically by Friday, January 2nd. Whether we take the time to read them in the meeting or not, they’re meant to inform you so that together, we can celebrate the achievements of the previous year and look to the future.
